Q: Are gifts to WBA tax deductible?
A: WBA is a non-profit organization. It is a 501(c)7, a social and educational membership group. Sometimes people think donations to ANY non-profit are tax deductible, but only those given to CHARITABLE non-profits, which are 501(c)3 organizations. WBA it is NOT a charitable non-profit.
Q: Why aren’t ALL events recorded for the WBA website?
A: WBA respects the work of all creators. Copyright restrictions prevent the posting of any RECORDED program that contains copyrighted images without permission. Giving credit (attribution) for an image taken from the internet is not enough. It is still copyright infringement if the owner was not contacted and gave permission. The bottom line: always ask permission from the author and let them know you would like to use their work for a recorded presentation for WBA, or try to find one in the public domain.
Today, we have more public domain sites available than we’ve ever had before. Always check the fine print on sites for further use and attribution requirements. PUBLIC DOMAIN and CREATIVE COMMONS images can be used in any presentation and so can images where the copyright has expired.
Here are a few fun ones. Perhaps some of the art could be used as backgrounds in a presentation or on your creative button mounting card. Inspiration can be found with just a click!
